Bellver Castle is the lung of the beautiful island overlooking the entire Majorcan bay.
A place with lots of charm, lots of history and a lot of authenticity.
It is located less than five kilometres from the city of Palma. With option of arrival even with touristic bus. Stop of obligation to enjoy its forests, its infantile parks, picnic and equestrian shows carried out by the section of the “Local Police Mounted”.
A tourist attraction for everyone who wants to know the beauty of the island, and for any local who wants to “get some air”. It is one of the few castles in all of Europe, with a circular base and the also the oldest (dates from the year 1300).
It has served as a royal residence, former prison and in recent years as an excellent location for weddings and social events as the edition of the daily newspaper “Diario de Mallorca” awards. Highlights in the summer evenings, the different cycles of concerts that take place inside the courtyard of the castle: Jazz, Sacred music, Piano Concerto… An ideal plan for the senses. Perfect selection for a movie location and the wonder of listening to great musicians in a place with a splendid acoustics and which, hopefully, accompanies even the moon as a perfect accessory.
Recently they have installed a visitor care center with a very careful architecture that does not clash within the park and the facilities of the castle, it is more has increased the image of the castle: having provided toilet services for the Visitors as well as a coffee shop with glass windows that remind you of the magic of the place where you are, free WIFI service, you can pay by credit card and friendly and helpful waitresses.
A castle that has been able to adapt to the needs of the current tourist and at the same time, also facilitate the resident of the island, its visit.
The entrance to the castle was free for tourists and residents, in recent years, the city council has set a price. It is, however quite small, in order to maintain the state of the fortress and its forests, to control the number of visitors and not to allow the overcrowding.
