Also known, in a casual way, as “a virgin Bali”, Lombok is located to the east of the island of the gods, being as paradisiacal as this one, but with the advantage of being less touristic.
Lombok is a paradise that although little by little people are beginning to know… we can still say today that it does not yet exist for mass tourism. A Hidden Destination, with emerald waters, white sandy beaches, rice fields, jungle areas and waterfalls to discover, under the sight of the Rinjani volcano.
Read on and you will find some of the best local recommendations to enjoy your stay in this paradise. We have our hidden ambassador Marta there, so if you start organizing your trip there, ask us and we will put you in touch to receive information about the area and book accommodation.
The southern part can be visited based in Kuta and, from there, you can see the whole area at your leisure. Some of the best plans include a surfing or diving course. If you include these plans in your agenda, the best thing is to rent a scooter and make excursions to the different beaches that there are, all are more or less to maximum 30 minutes of Kuta. From Kuta, you can also visit the waterfalls, take a car to spend the day there and then return to Kuta to sleep.
After enjoying the south well, in Tetebatu, which is in the mountains, you can take advantage of the mountainous part and do the volcano trekking.
The best way to finish, after the trekking, is a relaxing getaway to the Gilis Islands.
The difference between the northern and southern beaches of Lombok is that the northern beaches are volcanic (dark sand) and the southern beaches are white sand with dunes. Among the most recommended are: Selong Belanak, Tanjung An, Mawi, Mawun and Tampah.
WHERE TO STAY
We highly recommend the recently opened Kalea Villas. A complex of 6 luxury villas, modern and new, with all the amenities in the center of Kuta.
Other possible options include the Jivana Hotel – a small hotel with rooms and some villas – , Sikara Hotel and Rascals Hotel.
The Hotel Selong Selo, is in Selong Belanak, a very recommendable place, although to go out to have dinner it is a little far from Kuta where the restaurants are.
