# Talking
We interviewed Javier, who told us how he has lived his confinement and how, with his wife, he has found the best support and equipment.
1.- SEA NEED CLOTHING. When and how was this project born?
This project was born in full confinement after several months of work.
I have always loved the sea and the immensity it represents, just seeing it brings me peace. It was last year when I started diving and began to know the sea from the inside and to really love it. It was Jacques Cousteau who said “People only love what they know, that’s how naive we are”
The idea of this business was to make designs related to the sea and its fauna for those who love it, and of course, being respectful of the environment.
2. CREATIVITY. What have you done to keep it active during confinement?
I have to admit that confinement has been hard but it is a social responsibility to avoid more contagion and possible victims. Every second of confinement has been used to the fullest extent of brand development.
To keep up the creativity we have been doing sport every day, going around the yard until we make a near-perfect circle on the ground and play with our cat Lexa. By keeping the body occupied, the mind is cleared and able to be more responsive.
3. PLAYLIST. The songs, book, phrase or film that have inspired you.
I remember being a teenager and locking myself in my room to listen to Pearl Jam. In the middle of confinement, they released their new album and now we’re locked up at home listening to it non-stop, hehe.
One phrase that has really made me follow the project during the confinement is “tot anira be” (everything will be alright) accompanied by rainbow drawings made by children that can be seen in the area where I live.
4. TALENT. What ideas have you come up with for your project as a result of this confinement? You love the sea, I guess the first thing you missed was the sea. Have you been lucky enough to return to the sea these days?
My wife has been helping me with social media marketing and I have started the online store. Having a great photographer (Helena Palao) by your side, helping you with her images and artistic criteria is very helpful.
I have also been talking to different suppliers and thinking about future designs and different packages. In fact, I will soon start with a new collection and try to add some plantable paper cards to the packaging.
The truth is that not seeing the sea for us has been very painful, we went from seeing the sea almost every day to not seeing it for almost two months, it was like having the sunlight taken away from us.
Luckily this Monday the first thing we did when we could make use of the terraces of the bars, was to go to Puerto de Soller to have a coffee. Spending the afternoon on a terrace in front of the beach was what we needed to start feeling complete. When we can get into the water is when we will be completely happy.
5. NEXT. What is the next step you plan to take for your company?
I have a pending photo session with models that due to the confinement issue has not been possible to shoot. We have several more designs that have not been able to be released as we did not receive them due to logistical problems. These designs will be presented little by little in different platforms.
6. SEA NEED CLOTHING TOP. What design or product do you recommend as a basic of the season?
Our white “manta ray” T-shirt made of 100% organic cotton for its colorfulness and freshness is our basic for this summer.
