✅ Vinamica. The Vinagement company founded by Joan Carles Serra, Javier Pons, and Tomeu Taura in 2009. They recommend, sell, and distribute unique wines.
▷ In a Snapshot
Vinamica’s success is a reflection of the professionals who love their work, their excellent criteria when choosing which wines to represent and, their added value, the direct and personal advice given to each client.
They provide advice to their private or corporate clients, based on their own tastes. For them, there are no two clients alike. Nor do they impose their tastes, they find the best option for each client. And that great detail, makes the difference of their company.
During this confinement, they have inaugurated the home delivery service for particulars. They have received many calls, and have attended many Mallorcans. They have known how to adapt to the needs of the market, to find out which wine suited the client who called them or who left them a message. They have taken what they considered to be the best to their clients’ homes. For us, Vinamica, it’s a Hidden Icon.
# Talking
We took a few minutes from Tomeu Taura who kindly answered a few questions. Thank you for your time.
1. CREATIVIDAD. What have you done to keep it active during this confinement?
Above all, we have tried to move towards simplicity in the design of everything we create. And what could be simpler than making it easier for people to get what they want at their doorstep, right?
2. YOUR BASICS
Songs: Anyone with a good rhythmic base. I love to play the drums. I think all music is valid but not for any time. It happens like with wine. Each person, each occasion, requires its own soundtrack.
Book: Right now I’m with Yuval Noah Harari’s SAPIENS, which describes perfectly how our DNA is as humans and, in part, why we relate the way we do.
A phrase that has accompanied you: I am a fan -and I apply it very habitually- of The Little Prince and his precious “L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux”. The essential is invisible to the eyes.
3. TALENT. Everyone wanted their wine at home… The demand has been notorious. What was it like advising people over the phone and delivering it to them personally?
We have done it as we have been doing it since the opening of Vinamica: listening carefully. There are times when people do not find the word that describes the aroma or flavor they are looking for, but this is perhaps the most beautiful and romantic part of our work: walking with the customer in the search and fine-tuning of what they may like. When they repeat after a recommendation, the joy is immense.
4. DELIVERY. The general public is not used to purchase wine or beer from home. Do you think this service will continue? Which wines have been the most requested?
The demand continues and it seems to be here to stay. Deliveries will be streamlined, of course, but in the meantime, we have opened up an interesting route that will need to be studied in depth. People trust in their own tastes and, above all, in the information that comes from the questions we ask our clients according to varieties, areas, flavors… Clients tend to take advantage of this to order a selection of products.
5. VINAMICA TOP. Your wine recommendation.
That’s almost like “Do you love Mommy or Daddy more?” (laughs). It’s hard to decide on one because it is to name one, and a hundred more come to mind. An interesting objective could be “15 THOUSAND DROPS” or a “WHITE PINUP”. Although to tell you the truth, a bottle of fresh sparkling wine like “RAOR RESERVA BRUT NATURE” is a regular in the pool. A subtle, light and fragrant rosé like SON PROHENS VI DE FINCA is a real hit and a native and modern red like SUPERNOVA, a delight.
✨ Hidden Tips
Tomeu Taura from Vinamica, tells us his Hidden Tips to enjoy the best of Mallorca.
Where to go: I am a fan of cycling and especially mountain biking. So I would recommend everyone a two-wheeled ride in the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site. For me it is the refuge where to enjoy but also to disconnect.
What to do: I suppose because I am an islander but one of the things I like to do the most is to sail along the coast of Mallorca. The feeling of peace that the sea gives, the disconnection with the movement of the waves as the only counterpoint to the silence, and, when possible, add a glass of white wine. Yes, I have probably described paradise :-)What to see: One of my favorite events, I suppose because I like music so much, is the Sa Pobla Jazz Festival, which takes place in August and is of a very high standard, with a very interesting international line-up every year. It is in the town square and outdoors.
≫ Vinamica, the project of three partners and friends that have exceeded all expectations. Since 2009 they have managed to distribute, sell and, above all, make people enjoy themselves with recommendations on the latest wines. They involve their customers from the very first moment and make the purchase of wine part of the ritual of enjoying a good wine. Chapeau.
