Strolling around Calatrava
Calatrava is the most medieval and genuine area of Palma’s historic centre. It is a luxury to get lost wandering through its quiet cobbled streets, very well preserved, where history is present in every corner.
An area where it is easy to find cafés, charming shops and museums until you reach the part of Dalt Murada and enjoy the spectacular view of the Bay of Palma.
Palacio Ca Sa Galesa Hotel
Walking down the street we arrive at Miramar street and at the Hotel Palacio Ca Sa Galesa. A 5* boutique hotel, near the Cathedral of Palma and in the heart of Calatrava.
The building is a 16th-century palace that has undergone various reforms that have allowed it to maintain its original state without sacrificing the comfort of a five-star hotel.
The Rooftop
The rooftop has a wonderful view of the Bay, as well as a direct and close view of the rosette and buttresses of the cathedral that is not seen every day.
The terrace is the one that always calls and attracts us. A place with a spectacular view and quiet and reserved enough to take the most interesting visits. The perfect place to have an aperitif and enjoy a quiet meal with the December sun.
In summer it will again be a good place to stay. There is a corner in the shade as a chill-out near the very nice bar, from which you can see all the lush gardens of the houses of Calatrava. The other part of the terrace is destined to relax sunbathing in sun loungers and Balinese beds with a small fountain where you can refresh yourself.
Art and Antiques
We visited the first floor, where you will find the fantastic yellow kitchen inspired by Claude Monet’s Dining Room in his house in Giverny. Breakfast and tea time are served there, which is another good excuse to visit this hotel.
In the same floor we find the rest of common areas: the library with chimney, a patio, a dining room and a pair of lounges of classic air.
Paintings, sculptures and illustrations by Lorenzo Quinn, Miró and Tàpies, antiques, rooms dedicated to the great classical musicians and other details are spread throughout this 12-room hotel that stands out for a concept of family and luxury hotel that bets on art and antiques.
Hidden Recommendation
A private hotel that escapes the conventions of the typical hotels of Majorca and that is worthwhile. A place to return to.
